I'm Vilma. A visual artist passionately curious about life and its phenomena. More specifically I'm interested in the semiotics of the everyday, that is - how we understand the world around us through signs and symbols.
The photo seen here was taken in the corridor of the building where I live. My downstairs neighbour is an elderly man who has a habit of balancing his fresh baguette on the handrail of the staircase while he briefly goes to the backyard to do something important (I'm not sure what).
I find his installation genius. I cannot think of a wittier way to mark one's territory.
But I must confess. This photo is a setup. It is my baguette and I put it there. So far, I haven't managed to take a photo of my downstairs neighbour's baguette because I'm always afraid he comes back too soon and catches me shooting his baguette.
In any case, you get the idea.
